J.Period's at it again. This time he's hooked up with Nigerian-born Nneka; extremely talented, beautiful & real. Her vocal style and ease is evocative of Lauryn Hill mixed with Fela Kuti and Nigeria, while J.Period's selections adds to her edge and keeps the vibe going throughout. Although she'll get comparison to hip acts such as M.I.A. or Santi, she's more deserving of comparisons to Badu or Ms. Hill if any.. However her style is all her own, and contains bits and pieces of her soul as you'll hear. Notable tracks include a remix of hit UK single "Heartbeat" in which Talib Kweli answers the call and contributes his talents. As well, hip-hop "savior'" and one of my personal favorites Jay Electronica does his thing in "Walking." Other guests include Big Boi, Damian Marley, & M-1 of Dead Prez. This is a highly recommended download! Don't front.
