Here's some evidence of that in my latest mix (second volume of Easystep series). In it, I explore more of the multi-styled UK Garage sound. Tomorrow, I will be making a long awaited trip to the "Windy City" otherwise known as Chicago, Illinois. Chicago is known for many things in the musical sense. Mainly as the birthing ground for acts such as Curtis Mayfield & the Impressions; Earth, Wind, & Fire; Herbie Hancock; Miles Davis; R. Kelly; G.O.O.D. Music(Kanye & Common); Lupe Fiasco; and most importantly (IMO) House music. Given my fondness for House music and its many different forms, this trip is in part a pilgrimage. Most importantly though, I'm going to DJ a very special event put on by a very special friend of mine Drunken Monkeee. I will rocking his annual loft party known as "The Honeycomb Hideout"

It's held in the Center of Chicago at The Elastic Arts Foundation, and will feature performances by several up & coming Chicago artists including Ill Legit and Professor Gorilla Dickens (trip-hop/loungy alias of Drunken Monkeee). As a special gift to all I've compiled a little mixtape of my friend, Drunken Monkeee's tracks. Some may say I'm late on this, but I feel like his time is now. Penned as Hip-Hop's "Savior" in many places, Jay Electronica may well be just that. With the aura & persona of a holy wandering Monk, JayElec maybe the realest thing the game has to offer. Although he brings an amazing element of 'conscious' rap to his lyrics, he stays completely raw with it and doesn't seek to sugarcoat any of the things he says. Every one of his rhymes paints a very vivid visual image in your head, & Wu-Tang-esque sound bytes do the job of helping reinforce these images. Even most importantly, he has come with something extremely fresh and to my knowledge never heard before in hip-hop. I'm talking of course about "Act:1 Eternal Sunshine (The Pledge)." In it's entirety (the full original contains two voicemail messages), the song is a drumless, chorusless classical-styled composition containing several movements. In it JayElec addresses not only his opposition to mainstream hip-hop culture, but as well a sour relationship, mind control by the present power stucture, & his knowledge of UFO & Supernatural Phenoma.... All in 4 classical movements. Just Listen....

I'm back from a seasonal hiatus, and it's hot. It's hurricane season, and it's brewing early. A good time to flip mode from summer summer spoils. Although I missed some crucial parts of the game, I did catch the halftime show which was dope on all fronts. The Boss killed it, like always. Bruce posed a great question to his viewers, "Is there anybody alive out there?" The answer for most is hopefully yes, but given the times were in, I could imagine many no's coming from the people. Yes, the moment finally came. All in all, it was a good day. However, I'm irked by the media's potrayal of now President Obama. Quite frankly they're on the dudes nuts and they're created a mini-series out of the whole thing. Then again, it's an extremely significant when compared to popular versions of Human history. But all the mass media doesn't help, and given the prominence of media in the world, the projection could be taken as pseudo-messianic. All in all, lets hope that President Barry doesn't succumb to the powers that be in traditional American politics and the extremely evil powers (bankers and such) that control the world. We'll see....

What's up People? I've been gone for a little, been busy with some things, but I'm back to bring some cheer. Although, I've been disenchanted with the whole Holiday Season as of late (ex. my upcoming birthday), like always, music helps me get thru it. This whole time of year is very reflective to me, with my birthday and the new year at hand. A bittersweet reminder that time truly is "slipping into the Future". The children I work with hardly grasp that idea(rightly so), and are understandably naive. In a way you can just feel there excitement & holiday Spirit, that seems to make things a lot better.

The death of this cycle is coming nearer, and holidays are plentiful. Although I don't really celebrate Christmas anymore, if anyone wants to contribute to help me get these jeans(click pic for link/info) for my birthday (the 30th of this month) or Kwanzaa, I'd be more than grateful.

In other news.. For some reason I went to the store at 4AM on Black Friday(it was after a night of partying an my judgment was impaired), and after doing so I couldn't be more disappointed in myself. No offense to anyone, but if you line up 3 hours beforehand to wait for a store to open at 4 in the morning, your a loser. No one needs anything that bad that they have to wait on a line in near, if not, freezing temperature weather. It's so bad that workers at these stores lose there lives from consumers inattentiveness and greed-filled neglect. That story is some heartbreaking shit, huh?

Find yourself in complete awe of something so 'plain', to the point where you mentally delve into it and begin to analyze and raise questions about it to the point it pains you? If soo you're not alone, because this is me much of the time, and could be my biggest downfall(given the fact that I don't move-on from certain thoughts/ideas and get on with my life in the physical world.) However, on the other hand it's easy for me to find beauty in rather simple things. The lesson in this is to appreciate the underlying beauty/meaning in everything, but don't let it knock you off your path.

No matter what your politics, this an Historic moment. Some people may not like it but this an accomplishment of the American Dream, Black White Asian Indian Indigenous. To think that throughout history, not only have people of darker Light been thought of as sub-Human, but our history(that of many indigenous people) has even been destroyed, and skewed, now before stands a triumph of History. Or at least the "History" we are taught.

My African ancestors were brought here as slaves, to build this country, the New World, and until not long ago were not considered full and respected citizens of this nation. Through our enslavement we were conditioned to think of ourselves as less than humans and it continued on through the Jim Crow-era, and many argue it is still being done today. My own Mother, had to pee on the side of the road on family vacations because Southern rest stops were segregated, treated as if she were a dog, when she was only a little girl.

To think that the Beacon of the Free World will now be head by an African-American man, a person of darker Light, someone not at all very different from me, is truly beyond me. When I heard the news, for a moment I did not have much of a reaction, but my emotions took me and, no lie, I cried. This is history, we must move on from the past, and we must unify ourselves as people in order to reach our true potential as a single Human race. We can do it. It may take time but it is attainable.

Whatever your politics, at least be proud that your country has accomplished what it has today.

Just saw the Kanye "LoveLockdown" video and as always, he's on some other. It definitely had more of an artistic concept, big break from the typical Hip Hop video. I'd like to see more on this level.

Anyways, I read an article today that said humans were at the end of there evolution. Contributing to this problem were things like contraception and early mating/reproduction (mutations often occur when fathers are 55+). However, what I'm wondering about most is our process of endangerment/extinction and whether it will begin sooner, or later? With the design of the monetary system, the spread of disease and the scarcity(true?) of food/commodities all the signs are pointing to a downturn. The crazy thing is that as humans we are creators(makers of technology) and if we were to fully realize our true potential, money, class and racism would have no place. What other species of mammals discriminate against and kill members of there own species? Everyone deserves the right to excellent education(in which critical thinking is encouraged and practiced), food, and shelter. But the idea of monetary wealth has destroyed the idea true freedom and equality. We have enough technology and can make enough to make an amazing world, but not if the banks have anything to do with it.

In some ways this whole political atmosphere right now reminds me of theatre, and we have yet to find out if the piece is a tragedy or a comedy. Srsly though, Sarah Palin? An African-American President(Morgan Freeman Deep Impact style) in a nation where 'white-privilege' is alive, well, and unchallenged? And now, with this bailout plan, the government's using taxpayer money to buy-out major corporations, major banks and acquiring shares of failing corporations in a capitalistic society(which is NAGL really, considering the trickle-down brand of capitalism got us in this mess anyways). I'm thinkin Jack Valenti had a hand in this production, post mortem.

is the 7th anniversary of the Sept 11th WTC attacks. And although its a beautiful day out and the temperature and air is mild, deep deep inside, I feel mad as hell, and I'd be surprised if most Americans aren't. I turned on the tv this morning and there was a memorial service being broadcast from "ground zero," and I found myself fighting back tears. Not just tears of sadness from hearing the names read out by family members, but tears of anger. Strangely enough the anger that I felt is not even directed toward the 'terrorists' who I'm told perpetrated these acts, but towards the government that has continually lied to us and given us half truths. There's so many smoking guns in the story surrounding September 11th it's sickening. We gotta stop letting them hoodwink us.

I'm not really that much into pop culture(i think), but the VMA's had to be the worst shit I've ever watched, ever. Did anyone noticed how the whole room was filled with like 50+ year old dudes? On another note most of the performances were terrible, except for Wayne(surprisingly), Kanye, and I'll add Rihanna to this list cause she's bangin. Secondly, it wasn't even in a theatre like a traditional show would be, don't know about you but I'd rather watch someone perform on a stage instead of watching there terrible showmanship(acting/singing included) on a huge screen as its taking place in a backlot set that looks nothing like the NYC street its replicated as. And whats up with the kids bum-rushing the stage effect, thats corny and only happened to the Beatles(and in That Thing You Do). Furthermore, why the fuck isn't Britney Spears watching her kids? Fuck giving her an award, but 3? One award would have been enough and then she could've have accepted live via sattelite, bitch makes me sick. Her music's terrible, only thing she has going for her is 1. she's white, 2. she's got a body(her face is sorta doofy), 3. she's a hick(cause Americans like reall down home type folks right?)She can dance too i guess, but without hair to have in her face her level of skill would be divided in two(like most white girls right?) nah im joshin. Russell Brand was pretty funny, in his English style of comedy btw. Yea but all in all, the show was terrible. Done.

I've been seeing these things all too much, in public places and on the outside of privately owned buildings. For instance, on the train tressels at my town's train station, there's two placed identically on opposite sides of the streets, what for? Likewise with many buildings you'll notice small wooden owls. Clearly a very Pagan symbol like this used and placed there isn't very ordinary, or is it?
